Pit Bull Dog Named Zeus Dies After Protecting Boys From Deadly Snake In Florida

The Richardson family told CBS News on Friday they are “still hurt” by the loss of Zeus, their heroic dog, earlier this week. Their baby pit bull puppy protected their sons from a dangerous coral snake.

The family’s young boys, Oriley and Orion, were outside the home in Sumter County cleaning Zeus’ water dish on Monday, when he spotted the snake and started fighting it off. The children were unharmed, but their dog didn’t make it. Veterinarians attempted to save the brave dog but the poison proved fatal.
